Mining Register
The Mining Register is a register of all mining tenements issued under the Mining Act 1971 (the Act).
A mining tenement is a:
- Mineral Claim
- Exploration Licence
- Mining Lease (Extractive Minerals Lease or Mineral Lease)
- Retention Lease
- Miscellaneous Purposes Licence
The register also has limited information regarding Private Mines.
Any person may search the register.
Whilst the Department is undertaking the required changes to this search tool to implement the new Mining Regulations 2020, the requirement to pay to search the Mining Register has been removed.
You may search the register to find out information on mining tenements:

An extract from the register provides a summary of information regarding the mining tenement including the holder, the start date, expiry date, and relevant commodities.

A copy of a mineral tenement document, otherwise known as a lease or licence document, provides further information and may include the terms and conditions relevant to the mineral tenement.
